Dynamic R1 Review

Dynamic R1 is priced at $1.295 on Amazon and it utilizes both air and magnetic resistance. There are 16 levels of resistance that allow it to fit everyone of all ages and strengths. And since Dynamic R1 doesn’t use chain, it’s very quiet and smooth when used.

Let’s talk about how Dynamic R1 works. Using the combination of air and magnetic resistance means that Dynamic R1 adds a lot of benefits to the rowing stroke. For your info, air rowing machines operate by relying on a handle that spins a fan flywheel and magnetic rowing machines operate in the same way except there is a magnet inside the flywheel to create more resistance.

Using Dynamic R1 feels really smooth, every stroke feels the same. The adjustable resistance can be controlled using the monitor. Noise level is almost non existence with this machine, much quieter than air rowing machines.

Dynamic R1 is great for people who want more resistance on their rowing machine. The faster you row, the more resistance you’ll get, and it’ll also be more constant. Compared to Concept2 Model D, Dynamic R1’s resistance is stronger.

Overall, the resistance on Dynamic R1 is okay. If you don’t mind using external power to use the machine and adjusting resistance level, Dynamic R1 should be doing well. But the accuracy of the data shown in the monitor is not consistent at all.

Verdict

Unfortunately, Dynamic R1 has plenty of flaws compared to Concept2 Model D. First of all, Dynamic R1 requires external power. To adjust resistance level, you need push certain buttons on the monitor and you can’t do so without external power or if the monitor is broken. Second, the lack of chain means the lack of consistent drive. There is no sense of recover. Third, the statistics shown in the monitor aren’t accurate. Some people have reported that the data are all wrong, like the distance or recovery is inconsistent. Fourth, the monitor seems very confusing for a lot of people. You need to get a bit closer to see the monitor clearly.

We think that it’s obvious now that Dynamic R1 isn’t Concept2 Model D. The most disappointing part of this is that Dynamic R1’s price tag isn’t exactly on the cheap side. For the price that they put for the product isn’t comparable of what you get with the machine.

Concept2 Model D is the obvious winner here, from functionality, comfort, and price tag, it’s the winner in this comparison. Concept2 Model D is still at the top ranking of rowing machines.
